According to foreign media reports, the Mediterranean country of Larnaca City and the local electric power bureau (EAC) recently signed a LED street lighting supply and installation contract, which is expected to bring 67% energy saving effect.
The power bureau will install a total of 8,300 LED street lights to upgrade the lighting, with a total cost of about 1.38 million euros (about 10.58 million yuan), including eight years of maintenance and maintenance of old lamps.
The city government said that replacing the light bulb can both reduce power consumption and reduce the cost of electricity paid by the municipality. The city of Larnaca is expected to save about 500,000 euros (about 3.83 million yuan) per year, while pollutants will also be reduced and the quality of lighting will be better.
Road lighting replacement is expected to begin at the end of December and will be completed by the end of May 2020.
In Europe, incandescent bulbs are being phased out and must be replaced with new, energy-efficient and environmentally friendly lighting technologies.
The implementation of the new LED technology not only saves energy, but also saves money, and has a longer service life. The maintenance cost of street lighting can be reduced by 50% to 70%. In addition, LED lights provide drivers with a clearer view, especially in inclement weather conditions. At the same time, incandescent lamps are more attractive to birds that migrate at night than LED lights.
It’s just that the initial cost is quite large, but due to the current high power and maintenance costs, it is expected to pay off quickly.
